Glossary

Definitions of key terms used in Impossible.

Builder

The three-panel interface in WordPress admin (Impossible menu): Site Explorer, Preview, and Chat.

Change log

A panel below the Site Explorer that lists recent changes made by the agent. Each entry shows a summary and timestamp. Use Revert to undo back to that point.

Chat

The right panel in the builder where you type prompts and see the agent’s responses. Supports streaming text, tool status, and approval cards.

Discard

Removes all staged changes without publishing. The live site is unchanged. Use when you want to abandon your edits.

Orchestrator

The backend service that runs the AI agent and connects to your WordPress site. The plugin connects to the Impossible API automatically.

Preview

The center panel in the builder that shows a live preview of the selected page. Displays staged changes before you publish. Supports device toggles (desktop, tablet, mobile) and zoom.

Publish

Applies all staged changes to the live site. Pages, CSS, and theme files are updated. Use the Publish button in the bottom bar when you are ready to make changes live.

Redo

Re-applies a change that was undone. Available in the chat panel, bottom bar, and via keyboard shortcut.

Site Explorer

The left panel in the builder that lists your pages and posts. Click a page to select it for editing and to load it in the preview. Shows status badges (published, draft, affected).

Staging / Staged

Changes that are saved but not yet live. All agent edits go to staging first. The preview shows staged content. The live site is unchanged until you click Publish.

Undo

Reverts the last change in the staged state. Available in the chat panel, bottom bar, and via keyboard shortcut.

Affected

A page or the site is “affected” when it has staged changes (content, CSS, or theme files) that are not yet published. The Site Explorer shows an indicator on affected pages.
