# Quickstart

Get from zero to your first page build in under 5 minutes.

## Step 1: Install the plugin

Install and activate Impossible on your WordPress site. See [Installation](/docs/getting-started/installation) for upload or manual install.

## Step 2: Get an API key

1. Go to the [Impossible web app](https://impossible.sh)
2. Sign up or sign in
3. Open **Dashboard → API Keys**
4. Click **Generate API key**
5. Copy the key (it's shown only once)

## Step 3: Connect WordPress

1. In WordPress admin, go to **Impossible → Settings**
2. Paste your API key
3. If using LocalWP or a local site, check **Are you using this on a local / development environment?** and paste your ngrok URL
4. Click **Test Connection** — wait for "Connection successful"
5. Click **Save**

## Step 4: Open the builder

1. Go to **Impossible** in the admin menu
2. Select a page in the Site Explorer
3. Type a prompt in the chat, e.g. "Add a hero section with Welcome to Our Site"
4. Press Enter and watch the preview update
